General eligibility requirements for submitting your application and supporting documents
Applicants for NHBW, Inc. "Elaine Davis-Nickens" Atlanta-Metro Scholarship must:
Step 1: Review Scholarship Description
Review the Scholarship Description and submit a full application packet.
Step 2: Review Requirements
Graduating High school senior, or students attending an accredited college or university as a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior or working adult.
Have an accumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or better from your previous or present institution
Be involved in school and community activities
Demonstrate mastery of written communication skills in a 500 to 800-word essay
Present auditory skills before the local chapter
Step 3: Application Submission Options
Complete the Online Application, then mail-in supporting documents.
Download the Application and complete it offline. The application must be typed. You may complete it and save, then print to mail in, along with supporting documents.
Step 4: Letters of Recommendation
TO BE CONSIDERED, ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY:
Complete the application and return to the Scholarship Committee.
The application must be accompanied by two current letters of recommendation (please ask the writer to be specific) and written by a school and a community representative.
Letters from supervisors and/or copies of certificates of participation from organizations where you performed your community service within the last twelve to eighteen months. (Applicant must have verified volunteer hours) Please be specific about your duties.
Step 5: Official Transcript
Have the last school you attended to submit an official transcript to the address below.
Secure an Official Transcript. Transcripts must be signed and sealed by the school and submitted by mail in the packet of documents that support your application.
Applicants from international high schools, colleges or universities must present official transcripts in English and must have numerical averages or numerical grades converted to an official G.P.A. by the school, college or university.
Step 6: Essay
Applicants must submit a Two-page Essay – Double spaced, typed, using 12 font. (New Times)
The essay must contain 500 to 800 words
The essay must be typed and double spaced
The essay must be written on the following topics
Reflect your personal point of view on your most significant challenge or accomplishment and its value to your life. Share your educational goals and professional aspirations, and how this award can help you to achieve these goals. The essay should tell the NHBW your story on how you will contribute or impact others with your educational and career goals. Why do you feel you are a good candidate for this award?
Step 7: Mail your Supporting Documents
Your full scholarship application packet should include the following:
Completed application (submitted online or with your mailed-in packet)
2 Letters of Recommendation
Verification of Volunteer hours
Finalist may be required to make an oral presentation before the local chapter on Saturday, April 10, 2021. The Winner will be notified by mail and invited to attend the awards ceremony possibly in May.
